Austrian coach Rothstria ran his team through an early morning skate, and an early morning chalk talk in advance of today’s hockey final.
“We’re focusing,” says Rothstria. “We’ve done a bit of Yoga, already pushed back a couple of sauerkrauts. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us before 4:30 final.”
The media arrived at the IFC this morning to watch the Russian team’s game day skate to find that there were no players, only coach Harpov. It seems that Russia is so confident in today’s final that they have foregone the traditional game day skate.
“We don’t need to prepare, we’re ready,” says Harpov. “We’ve been ready since game one.”
Instead of preparing on the ice, it seems the team is ready to spend its rubles.
“Right now my men are drinking vodka and buying denim jeans,” explains Harpov. “We will be wearing our denim jeans when we play — and our fur helmets.
“We will look good in victory,” says Harpov.
The game goes live at 4:30 pm at the IFC.
